Some Newsy Items From the Fertile Valley Across the White
Oil Trough, Oct. 29. - Saturday night November 9, is the next regular meeting night for the Odd Fellows, and there are two very important questions to be discussed at this meeting. Nine members from each side have been selected to speak on the matter, and every member is urged to be present.
J. M. Stephens, E. L. Reeves and J. L. Outlaw went out to the Tunstall graveyard Sunday to inspect the W. O. W. monument recently erected at the grave of Ruben Hill.
Ed Uhles of Sulphur Rock was here this week wanting to rent land. He has sold his property at Sulphur Rock and says he wants to move to the farm again.
Wonder who's pop gun it is that bellows so on certain nights? Boys, that is no fun, and it might cost you $50 and some trouble.
The singing Sunday night at the home of James Stephens was well attended and the good music was thoroughly enjoyed.
Uncle Frank Pridmore has sold his property at the head of the bottom and is talking of moving back to the bottom again.
The movement set on foot some time ago to build a church house here has fallen through, owing to poor crops.
Constable W. R. Pasley has been busy this week and last assisting Sheriff Dunlap at Batesville.
J. C. McGuire and son, Irvan, are down from Batesville this week, looking after business.
It is reported that Capt. R. R. Reeves will leave next week for the Blue Grass State.
John Taylor and family visited relatives at Salado Saturday and Sunday.
Some people here think the corn crop will be about like the crop of 1874.
A. B. Pelley, the Dunnington merchant, was in our town Sunday.
E. L. Woodward of Columbus, Ga., was in our town Thursday.
The river is about as low as it was ever known at this place.
Lee Davidson made a business trip to Newport Saturday.
Lum Hunter went to Newport on business Saturday.
F. M. Pridmore is having his new residence painted.
