Full Text

The idea of a French war, which instantly began policies of insurance in the city the beginning of this week, was owing to the report of a French man of war having taken one of our West Indiamen. This we hear has since turned out to be only an American ship which hoisted French colours; so that those who gave immediate premiums to receive so large money, if a French war should be declared in three months, will at least not have the chance of winning, which that report would give them, had it been true.
