Providence, Sept. 11, 1832.
I am authorised by the Board of Health, to announce to the public, that within the twenty-four hours next preceding 12 o'clock, M. of this day, one new case of Cholera has occurred, it being in Eddy-street, and reported by Doctors Richmond and Brownell.
S. W. BRIDGHAM, Mayor.
CHOLERA IN NORTH PROVIDENCE.-Since the case reported on Friday last, on the farm of Mr Phillip Allen. one other case has occurred in the same house. The subject of the attack is Mr Burbank, a teamster, a man of correct habits. and until attacked by the Cholera, in good health. His case was reported yesterday on the Mercantile News Room Books by Dr. Allen of this city. We have not heard from the patient to-day.
We learn also that a Mr Bucklin, an elderly man, residing in Seekonk, was attacked with cholera on Sunday evening last, and died yesterday, after an illness of 24 hours The particulars of this case we have not learned.
In this city, we have had no case reported since Sunday morning, until that announced by the Board of Health this afternoon. It is a very general remark, that an almost universal disposition to bowel complaint, seems to prevail among our citizens. But as temperance, self-denial, and a vigilant watchfulness of the symptoms of disease, seem to be the order of the day, we yet remain firm in the hope, that the cholera will not be permitted to lay a very heavy hand upon us.-Am.
