CIRCUS SEASON TO
OPEN HERE MAY 19

Robbins Brothers Bringing Big Show Here on That Day for Two Performances

Bismarck's circus season will open early this year with the appearance here May 19 of the Robbins Brothers circus, combined with the Buck Steele Oklahoma Ranch wild west show.

Performances will be given at 2 p. m., and 8 p. m., in a huge new main exhibition tent housing three rings, two stages and seats for 4,500 spectators. An innovation in seating arrangements is a grandstand equipped with comfortable portable opera chairs.

Robbins circus lists many new and spectacular acts, including the first appearance in this country of the Weigand troupe of teeter-board acrobats, the Flying Carlisle, the Riddle sisters who will walk a high wire over the heads of the audience and the Worral family of equestrians.

Other attractions will be Buster, the riding clown, the Yamato troupe of Japanese jugglers and plate spinners, Kate Smith and her 40 four-footed pets, the Hermons in an acrobatic act, Tusko, the "mighty performing pachyderm," trained horses, goats and pigs and a novelty in the form of a performing troupe of cats which climb ropes from the ground to the top of the huge tent.

Captain Bells and his fighting lions will head the group of wild animal acts. The show carries 20 cages of wild animals and, of course, has a side show with freaks and old-fashioned southern minstrels and cake-walkers.

The circus, which has shown in Bismarck before, is en route to the Pacific coast. It travels in its own train of 65 cars and is one of the largest circuses expected to appear in Bismarck this season.
