On Wednesday last was installed at Windham, the Rev Gardner Kellogg. Introductory Prayer, by the Rev Mr Bradley—Sermon by the Rev Mr Kellogg, from I Thess 2:4. But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God which trieth our hearts. Consecratory Prayer by the Rev Mr Mosely—Charge by the Rev Mr Lancaster—Right hand by the Rev Mr Nichols—Concluding Prayer by the Rev Mr Sawyer.
The performances were all pleasing to the audience, and the music good—Mr Kellogg's Sermon was highly approved—His Address was pathetic and suitable to the occasion— Mr Nichols' performance was excellent and peculiarly appropriate—While it explained the meaning of the ceremony, and shew the importance of good fellowship and harmony among the ministers of the gospel. it discovered the capacity of his mind, and the goodness of his heart.
It cannot but be pleasing to the devout Christian that a people who have been so long destitute of a settled minister, are now supplied with one who bids fair to be a blessing to them and an advocate for the cause of our glorified Redeemer.
