MAN SHOT IN HAND FOR FAILURE TO OBEY THUG

After he reached for a bottle instead of obeying the orders of a holdup man, Charles Slaton of 372 Hilliard street was shot and painfully wounded in his right hand Wednesday night about 10 o'clock as he neared his home.

Slaton told Grady hospital attaches that he was walking near his residence when a man commanded him to give up his money. He refused to the man's command and stooped and reached for a bottle when the thug fired one shot hitting him in the hand. After being treated, Slaton was allowed to return home
