Full Text

We have it from unquestionable authority that in the Western parts of Massachusetts a large majority of the people are in favor of the measures of our government—and that few or none oppose the Treaty, except those who joined in the insurrection under Shays in 1786 -The public may rely on the fact.

In Connecticut, still greater unanimity prevails respecting our government. About half a dozen men of some influence make the whole amount of opposition ; and the principles of these men are all traceable to one little point in this State.

In Vermont, during the session of the legislative, some attempts were made to breed a spirit of opposition ; but they failed.

In the Western countries of this state, on the frontiers, the Treaty is popular.
