THE ARREST OF DR. LANAhan.-- The New York Times, referring to the arrest of Dr. John Lanahan, on the 7th inst., for libel and slander, at the instance of Mr. Goodenough, says it was done by two deputy sheriffs who gruffly refused him the privilege of writing to his friends to apprise them of the affair, until he reached the sheriff's office. Here he declined the permission finally accorded and was sent to jail. He was released on Saturday, having given the necessary amount of bail ($5,000.) which he might easily have done at first had he not preferred to wait for his brother from Baltimore.
