Washington, Feb. 13 (AP)—Demand
that Harvey C. Couch resign from
the Reconstruction Finance Corporation board
of directors was made in a formal
statement today
by
Representative
Rankin, Democrat, Mississippi.

Basing his statement on the publi-
cation by the Federal Trade Commis-
sion of salaries received by executives
of power companies, Rankin said that
"unless Couch resigns from the R.
F. C. at once, President Roosevelt
ought to remove him."

"The Couch interests has been to
the South what the Insull interests
were to the North," Rankin said.

"They are today plundering the peo-
ple of Mississippi with power rates,
throwing every obstruction into the
way to prevent towns, cities and mun-
icipalities from owning and operat-
ing their own power plants, or from
securing power from the Tennessee
Valley Authority at Muscle Shoals."
