Bodies seem to lose their gravity when moved over a rail way. Mountains may be ascended with a small exertion or waste of power; and whatever appeared difficult in the construction of a rail road from Baltimore to the Ohio river, is no longer apprehended. At the steepest ascents it can only be necessary to locate an increased quantity of power, and in general a team with four horses will transport more than twenty tons, with as much velocity as one of our post coaches travel on our best roads. If the road shall be fitted for such purposes, it does not at all seem extravagant to believe, that the time will come when a person may breakfast with his family in Baltimore, and, on the next morning, at the same hour, at Wheeling, or such point on the Ohio as shall be designated-and be accommodated with food, drink, and sleep, on the road!
