Many Local No. 171 Officials Change Positions In Past Few Weeks
Stockton, Calif.—Another bit of news from Local Union No. 171. The officers of our local all seem to be obtaining different jobs, therefore there has been several replacements in the local's official family. Brother Podwell resigned to take a supervising job in a Los Angeles plant; Brother Ed Jewell has been appointed corresponding secretary in his place. Brother H. K. Dawson was placed on a salary under G. A. Williams, superintendent and Sister Marie Booth has taken over the job as financial secretary.
A meeting was held recently with Mr. Lattie, president of the Joaquin Potteries, Second Vice President Frank Hull and the shop committee, for the purpose of renewing our contract. I am happy to state that an agreeable arrangement has been made, satisfactory to both sides.
Business is picking up at the local pottery and we are very glad to hear this, as things have not been so steady the past few weeks.
So long until we have some more news for you eastern potters.
O. C. 171.
