Republicans
To-morrow you will be called upon to
perform an important duty, which concerns
the vital interests of your republican
institutions. Rally then under the
standard of liberty--Go to the polls, ALL
of you. And say, by your votes, that you
are still determined to maintain the cause
of Republicanism--the cause of your
country, for which the Patriots of the
Revolution fought, which was sealed with
their blood, which gave you LIBERTY and
INDEPENDENCE, and the numerous blessings
and privileges, which you now enjoy.

Your political opponents are using their
greatest efforts to defeat the election of
the republican candidates for office, and
to place the reins of the State government
in federal hands. Will you neglect
to meet them at the polls? Will you suffer
yourselves to be "divided," when you
hear the voice of liberty entreating, and
conjuring you to unite, like a band of
brethren, in the support of your invaluable
interests and dear-bought rights?

Should you be united, the republican
cause will still triumph. But should you
suffer yourselves to be divided, by the
arts and intrigues of the federal party, or
by local causes or jealousies, you may be
assured, that you will thereby seal your
own destruction as a party.

You are told by your political foes, that
the "political millennium" has already arrived--that "we are all federalists--all
republicans." We object not to this doctrine, were it true. If it is true, why are
the federal party now attempting to "compass sea and land," to prevent the election
of the republican candidates for office? Is it because they doubt the republican
principles of your candidates?

No--Republicans! it is because they dislike
your principles and the true and undeviating supporters of them. They
wish you to unite with them upon their
principles. They have the undoubted
privilege of uniting with you upon your
principles. And if your principles are
correct, it is a sacred duty, which you
owe to your own consciences--to your
country--and to your God, fearlessly to
maintain them.

Rally, then, under the star spangled
banner of freedom--acquit yourselves
like men and true Republicans "and if
you have but one day more to live, let
that day be devoted to the cause of your
country."

Republican Fellow-citizens!
As there will be no contest in the choice of
Governor, at the approaching election, many
of you may probably think the election of
Counsellor, Senator, and Representatives a
matter of minor importance, and neglect a
punctual attendance at the polls. But, fellow-
citizens, depend on it, this is a most erroneous
and dangerous idea. Although your federal
opponents cannot flatter themselves with success,
in a single handed contest, yet they hope,
by a coalition with mongrels and trimmers, to
effect such a division as may, to you, be equivalent to defeat--to them, of triumph. It is only
by a union of the firm and undeviating republicans of the old school, you can maintain an ascendancy. The conduct of your political opponents during the last year, is of a character
which should excite all your vigilance, and induce you to perfect concert in action. For
years past, you have forborne to exercise the
power your preponderance gave you, and generously allowed them to participate in your delegation to the State Legislature. In return,
they have attempted to avail themselves of the
power your indulgence allowed them, to impose upon you as your representative in the
National Senate, a man avowedly and inveterately hostile to our republican administration;
who has ever marched with the foremost in the
ranks of federalism; who in the dark period of
our country's calamity, indefatigably strove to
embarrass the measures which the government
proposed as the only means calculated to terminate the existing struggle with a haughty
and sanguinary enemy. Finding then, fellow-
citizens, there is no safety in an alliance with
your political enemies, your only course is obvious. You must again rally under the old republican STANDARD, under which you have so
often triumphed, and victory is yours.
