We understand that there are 49 children from two years old and upwards who regularly attend the school; and we think, upon the whole, that yesterday, they made a very respectable appearance. Several questions were proposed to them, such as what is the moon? from what does she receive her light? what are the stars? what is the earth? Show how many States are there in the Union, and in New England? who is the President of the United States, and who were his predecessors and numerous others of this nature, which they answered with ease and accuracy. We were highly pleased with their general appearance and behaviour; and we think the instructress deserves the highest commendation for her industry and patience. At the close of the exercises, a collection was made, amounting to sixty-one dollars and fifty cents. This exhibition gives us additional confidence in the real utility of these institutions.
