CHICAGO -(INS)- The rampaging Chicago White Sox may fall short in their drive to overtake the front running New York Yankees of the American League, but they were credited with an assist Friday in patching up the marriage of an estranged couple.
Mrs. Mildren G. Krahn, 34, (of 4827 South Racine Avenue) appeared before Circuit Judge Cornelius J. Harrington asking that her suit for separate maintenance be dismissed.
Her attorney, Harry X. Cole, said the marital difficulties started when Mrs. Krahn took two of the couple's four children to see a Cleveland-White Sox doubleheader.
Cole said the husband returned home from work angry, said baseball was a waste of time and beat his 15-year-old daughter, Barbara, and started after his wife.
But Krahn apologized to his wife last night, after he found that everybody he met was excited over the Sox double-win over the Washington Senators, moving the Chicago club to within four games of the Yankees.
The happy and reunited family was preparing to attend the White Sox game with the Senators Friday night.
Judge Harrington, on dismissing the suit, said:
"I hope you pull hard for the Sox, especially on Sunday when they take on those tough Yankees in a doubleheader."
