GENERAL COURT.

On Wednesday last, the Legislature of this State convened at Concord.— His Excellency J. T. Gilman was re-elected by a majority of 1268.— The 66 towns in the upper part of the state, that we received no accounts from, were pretty unanimous for Mr. Gilman, which made our list of votes for Governor, as stated in the Gazette, nearly accurate.

In the House of Representatives, Nahum Parker, Esq. was chosen Chairman: the forenoon was principally taken up in receiving the credentials and qualifying the members, nearly all of whom arrived in town the preceding evening. In the afternoon, the House proceeded to the choice of a Speaker; on counting the votes, they were as follows:

For John Prentice 182
John Langdon 62
Nahum Parker 11

John Calfe, Esq. was then chosen Clerk, and Nathaniel Weare, Esq. assistant Clerk.

The two Branches then joined in Convention, to fill the vacancies in the Senate—viz. in District No. 9. Candidates—Robert Alcock, and Seth Payson; on balloting, the votes were, For Seth Payson, 87 Robert Alcock, 71

District No. 10. Candidates—Ezra Peirce and Elisha Whitcomb.
For Ezra Peirce, 84
Elisha Whitcomb, 72
