PARIS, Jan. 28.

THE memory of the famous Marat begins now to be attacked by the moderate party in France. The bust of that illustrious rascal, as well as that of Charlier formerly the mayor of Lyons, who was guillotined, have been removed from the play-house of Lyons. Some Jacobins complained of such a gross insult to patriotism to the manager of the theatre; he answered as a joke "that those two personages either had emigrated or had forgotten to renew their subscription, so that their boxes were empty."

Our papers speak now with the greatest disrespect of Marat, formerly the bloody god of Paris. One of them says "No more is rendered now to those modern Deities than the homage once rendered by the Greeks to the infernal Deities" In speaking of those gods of the last requisition it is said :

"La crainte fut des Dieux, les premier inventeur."

"Fear was the first inventor of Gods."

All the documents relative to the enormities perpetrated by the old commune of Paris, and the old committees are reprinted in the newspapers. Amongst these are especially the famous circular address of the commune of Paris the day after the 2d of September, recommending to the other communes of France to follow the example of Paris, in murdering all the prisoners. That address was written and signed by Marat, and dispatched under the hand of Danton, the then minister of justice. Another paper, not less interesting, dated the 11th Floreal (30th of April)

It was a resolution of the committee of general safety, for the purpose of giving to one Douville full powers to execute private orders without any molestation or hindrance from any authority whatsoever; that resolution is signed by Elie la Coste, Moise Baile, Amar, Louis, Vouland and Jagot:

The 2d. Pluviose (21st January) there was a popular festival, after the commemoration of the king's death was over.- The effigy (mannequin) of a Jacobin double faced, covered with the red cap, dressed in red pantaloons, and a national jacket, armed with poignards and daggers, all covered with blood that flew from his eyes and mouth by a machine, was burnt in the midst of the court-yard of the Jacobin convent, before the church of the hall, in the midst of the applauses of the mob, after a long speech against those bloody monsters.

Bourdon de l'Oise has been robbed of all his clothes.

Gregorie having mounted a ladder in the committee of public instruction, to take a book from a shelf in the library, the ladder gave way, and he fell upon the stone floor of the room, his head was fractured, and he is now confined to his bed dangerously ill.

The committee of public safety has caused the seals to be put on a printing office where the memoirs of Dumourier were reprinting.

Very loud complaints are printed and publicly circulated here, on the disposition which gives to the criminal tribunal department of Paris, the power of judging revolutionarily.-It is argued, first, that any revolutionary tribunal, being a kind of commission, such an institution may easily degenerate into tyranny, because it goes out of the usual way of judging; 2dly- that often two persons are to be judged after the same manner, for different crimes, and they quote as an instance of their assertion, the cases of Maurin the murderer and La Croix the political writer, who did nothing more than enjoy the freedom of the press; 3dly that the tribunal accustomed to those unprecedented forms of trial, would proceed afterwards to judge the private business after the same way, and lose those tender feelings which are the safeguard of the innocent.

A great liberty of the press is however used at present; many persons write in favor of La Croix: it is generally believed he will be saved. Some writers have even published their reflections on the necessity of a speedy peace.
