The Rev. Gilbert Mister, pastor of the Corinth and New Bethel Baptist churches near Henderson, will return to his native Roanoke Island to conduct revival meetings in the Roanoke Island Baptist Church four miles north of Manteo, beginning Monday, March 24.
Meetings will be held each night at 7:30 through Wednesday, April 2, as the Rev. Mr. Mister preaches in the church of his boyhood. In addition there will be a special Sunday morning preaching service at 11 o'clock on March 30, at which time the congregation of the Nags Head Baptist Church will combine their regular service with the Roanoke Island church, Rev. There will also be a morning Bible study, meeting each weekday morning except Saturday at 10:00 o'clock, beginning Tuesday, March 25.
In preparation for the preaching services, cottage prayer meetings are in progress each night of the preceding week in the homes of the following people: Mrs. Sybil Etheridge, Mrs. Nancy Beals, George Twyne, Claude Jones, Gordon Riddick, Lizzie Dowe.
The public is cordially invited to participate in these services, since Mr. Mister is one of the most popular young men to leave Roanoke Island. He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific, during World War II, and returned to continue his college work.
