Full Text
Gen. Taylor's Letter will be found at full length in another column. The Banner thinks it will detract from his fame. We think it will add to the glory he has acquired in the field. For when a gallant old leader of the Armies of the Republic, in speaking of the 'Powers that be' to a friend in private life, happens to employ the language of truth, and not of flattery, a persecution of him for his honest opinions, made public without his sanction, will have no other effect than to exalt him in the estimation of his countrymen.
