SINGULAR CIRCUMSTANCE

On Thursday evening, the 21st inst. the sloop Nancy, capt. Ives, from this port, bound to Amelia Island, while at anchor about 25 miles to the S. of Savannah, in a heavy squall, was struck by lightning, which shivered her mast into about three hundred pieces! It was completely demolished down level with her deck: and what is remarkable, no other injury was sustained, although there were six persons on board, and the vessel very small. Her cargo consisted of cotton, tobacco and flour.
