PASTURE NOW A LAKE
Farmer Finds Trees And All Sunk-
en Out Of Sight.
Weir, June 28.—J. W. Rafferty
was surprised when he went out to
his pasture near here and found a
good portion of the pasture
had
disappeared.
A semi-circular pit
74 feet deep and 105 feet across
was where part of the pasture had
been.
A large tree,
formerly
on
the
spot, had disappeared.
At the bot-
tom of the pit is a pool of
water
which ebbs and flows like
a tide.
So far the pool has not been found.
It
is
believed
a
subterrannean
river
caused
the
cave-in.
The
strange
pit
is
attracting
large
crowds.
