Two hundred invited guests sat down to a sumptuous banquet in observance of National Life Insurance Day at the Commercial Club in Gary last night, when the Gary National Life Insurance Co. played hosts at the inauguration of the National Thrift Week campaign in this city.
Following the banquet, speakers brought out the full value of thriftiness. The advantages of owning life insurance, owning a home and the comfort of a bank account were explained. It was stated that up until a few years ago the only ones benefited from life insurance was the families of the deceased policy holder. They now say that a policy holder derives a great benefit during his life time by owning insurance and the benefit which his family receives is not lessened. This is brought about by the improved methods of writing insurance policies and by the fact that banks and other financial institutions will accept good life insurance policies as securities for loans and other financial transactions.
In his customary pleasing manner, Captain J. S. Norton, president of the Gary Commercial club acted as toastmaster and addressed the speakers. Warren T. McCray, candidate for governor at the Republican primaries was among the invited guests. He gave a short talk preparatory to leaving on the Monon for the southern part of the state. He received a rousing ovation.

Address of Welcome Wilbur Wyant,
president Gary National Life
A General Outline Thrift Week Campaign H. G. Hay

How the City Meets the Issue
Mayor W. F. Hodges
What Life Insurance Means to the
