FOR LIBERTY, WASHINGTON, lov'd of
the skies,
Boldly led his brave comrades thro' tempests
of fire;
Montgomery and Warren to gain this rich
prize,
At the feet of their foes in hot battle expired;
Every foot of the land,
Upon which we now stand,
Was once stain'd with free blood by a Tyrant's
command;
And the bones of our Heroes yet bleach on the
plain,
In defence of their rights, by hir'd murderers
Slain:-
And shall we, who inherit this glorious estate,
Which our fathers and brothers risk'd all in
defending,
Appraise it thus soon at so lowly a rate,
As to think our Election not worthy attending?
NO!--as one let us rise,
To secure the blest prize.
And defeat all Conspiracies, Slander, and Lies :
And may America's Sons remain happy and
free,
Whilst her fields bear a plant, or her forests a
tree!
