ANOTHER WICKED PLOT.
The Hanna friends of labor have discovered an alarming mare's nest at Washington. It is nothing less than a gigantic conspiracy to "create an upheaval in the industrial and political world" by the instigation of labor troubles all over the United States.
We suggest an immediate resort to the ever-ready injunction. This villainy must be nipped in the bud. If it can be done in no other way let martial law be declared, as in Idaho, and let every scoundrel who seeks the "interruption of the highly prosperous conditions of the wage-earners of the country" be thrown into a bull pen made and provided for the purpose. It is not only villainous, it is an impiety, to conspire in the "creation of a spirit of unfriendly feeling toward the republican party" in any state.
We warn democratic conspirators to have a care. They are trifling with holy things when they undertake to discredit McKinley prosperity and "foment unrest in labor circles." Labor circles are now supremely at rest, as the state of war in Idaho testifies, and as Chicago, Cleveland and other industrial centers loudly proclaim. And it is cruel to lay burdens upon the broad back of the patient Hanna. He has told labor that it was happy and contented, and that ought to end the matter. -Johnstown (Pa.) Democrat.
