Full Text
Members of Coolidge Odd Fellows Lodge started an attendance contest Tuesday night at their meeting in Masonic Temple.
The contest will continue for eight weeks. Each entrant has signed to attend five out of eight meetings during that time.
An important feature of the contest is that every contestant must bring a toy to each meeting he attends or pay a designated fine. These toys are put aside for Christmas baskets distributed each year by members.
There are two teams competing in the contest. Losers are doomed to buy winners a chicken dinner, while they themselves eat beans and cornbread at the same table.
The second degree was conferred on candidates at the meeting.
All who wish to attend the I.O.O.F. old fashioned basket picnic to Odd Fellows home for the orphaned and aged at Safford, Sunday, are welcome. Cars will assemble promptly at 7 a.m. at Masonic Temple so all may leave in a caravan.
