Preparations are under way in colored communities throughout Maryland, for special clinics, exercises in churches and schools, community clean-up campaigns and other health activities, during the week beginning March 30, for the 27th annual observance of National Negro Health Week.
The nation-wide celebration will be held under the auspices of the National Negro Health Movement, in cooperation with the U. S. Public Health Service, state, county, and city departments of health and various national organizations.
In outlining plans for the week's activities, Dr. R. H. Riley, director of the State Department of Health, said that the arrangements in each county are under the direction of the county health officer, assisted by the public health nurses, superintendents of schools, teachers, church organizations and other local groups.
