CLEVELAND -- A group of seven Latin American labor leaders visited Grand Lodge recently on a tour of the U. S. to study union organization.

Joint sponsors of the trip are the Point Four Program and the Inter-American Regional Organization (ORIT) of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions.

The group has just finished a four-month training course at the Labor Relations Institute of the University of Puerto Rico.

Conferences have been arranged with trade unionists in New York, Cleveland, Fostoria, Ohio; Chicago, Salt Lake City, Denver and Pittsburgh.

Martin H. Miller, head of the Legislative Department at Grand Lodge, conducted the group on a tour of the offices.

The group visited with President Kennedy before going on their tour of Grand Lodge.

Members of the team are Norindo Angel Angel, secretary Copper Mine Workers Confederation of Chile; Hernando Paquero, president of the Union of Workers of the Atlantic Department, Colombia; Julio Jorge Hau Blas, assistant secretary of the Textile Workers Federation of Peru; Luis Patapiat Castillo, vice-president Chilean Railway Workers Union; Felix Moscoso Moscoso, director Braden Copper Workers Union of Chile; Fernando Quesada Quesada, recording secretary Costa Rican Confederation of Labor "Rerum Novarum"; and Antonio Torres, president Union of Texas Petroleum Co. of Colombia.

The aim of the trip in the U.S. is to have close contacts with American trade unions, observe trade union activities, visit plants, study labor-management relations and learn as much as possible about special union programs in such fields as workers education, health and recreation programs.
