Cholera,--William Auchincloss, M. D. of Glasgow has investigated, thoroughly, the cause and progress of the Cholera in Scotland. The doctor's high station and standing as Lecturer on Surgery, and Senior Surgeon to the Royal Infirmary, must give weight to his opinion. In the Glasgow Medical Journal, he proves from facts, which he has given at large, that the Cholera is not propagated by a contagious poison--and that there is no danger of taking the disease by dissecting dead bodies, or by being confined in the room of cholera patients.

The Liverpool Mercury of the 30th of March observes:--
"We have made frequent mention of Dr. Johnson, both in the pamphlet we have published on the subject of the cholera, and in the Mercury. The doctor is, as our readers know, what is called an anti-contagionist; and he maintains that the disease, as now witnessed in England, is no new disease, but one which is familiar to English medical men. The other day this sceptical gentleman played off a hoax upon his professional brethren of the Westminster Medical Society, which is very well worth relating. He read a paper describing two cases of cholera at Sunderland to the surgeons of a cholera hospital in the metropolis, and they declared that human language could not more accurately describe the cases which had been under their care. "Gentlemen, (said the doctor) I have been practising a ruse upon you. What I have just read to you is the exact description of the cholera of Leeds, in 1825, described by Dr. Thackeray, and which attacked 48 per cent of the inhabitants. How then, could the disease be called a novus pestis?" He then proceeded to contend that the cholera were preceded by diarrhoea, and observed that if cases of diarrhoea were attended to in the first instance, none of those exquisite cases of cholera would occur."
