Treat your neighbor right during
all the days of the present week.
The man who is out always favors
the one term idea until he gets in.
Next Saturday we will vote on the
constitutional amendments and also
for a member of the legislature.
Well, the Colts hit the road again
this morning. Let us hope that they
will also be able to hit the ball while
on the trip.
The fellow who buys an auto on
a credit soon finds out that the
thing runs fast enough to keep ahead
of his income.
As Harry Thaw has been declared
sane and has been given his freedom,
we take it for granted that his funds
are exhausted.
That lovely silk stocking which
you delight to gaze at as it goes
down the street may have a hole in
the toe of it.
The dollars now being received for
the munitions of war furnished to
the fighting nations may well be
called "blood money."
Our pastor advised yesterday that
it is right for us to fast. Well, we
have been making a pretty good habit
along that line for some time.
If it be true that 140,000 Irish troops
are at the front fighting for the
allies, we are unable to understand
how the Germans have managed to
hold out so long.
The state rises up a new idea.
We think we will ask the drill co.
directors to file and register
their claims so that they can be paid as
fast as the money comes in.
We feel confidently it is in pretty good
judgment that the
European war will come to an end before the Czar of
Russia has an opportunity to take
that triumphal dinner in Berlin.
Throughout same we are shipping munitions of war to
France by almost every train.
Fighting in Mexico is not near so
expensive as it is in Europe, still the
different factions down there have
managed to get away with all they
had on hand and all they could steal
or borrow.
Newspaper men are not all ugly.
The Austin American states that Fort
Worth has a $10,000 beauty engaged
in the business, and then there is
also the paragrapher on the Waxa-
hachie Daily Light.
Claude Callan, of the Fort Worth
Star-Telegram has returned from his
vacation and reports that he and
Martha had a great time while lingering
at the sea shore.
We are satisfied we could frame
a reply that would set next to Ger-
many, still as we have President Wil-
son and Secretary Lansing employed
to look after matters of this kind for
us we are content to leave the job
in their hands.
Fort Worth is determined to hold
on to her present population. The
police arrested a man there Saturday
for trying to leave the city. Those
who are unable to get away certainly
have the sympathy of the people of
the surrounding country.
We see but little consistency in
going to church and praying for
peace on Sunday, and then spend the
entire week which follows in manu-
facturing arms and ammunition to
sell to the warring nations in order
that the killing may proceed.
"The German brewing industry
will not be ruined by the European
War," says a Munich special corre-
spondent to a liquor periodical. "It
will continue to exist and fulfill its
civilizing mission." If this is sample
of this fellow's line of talk we
will guarantee that he can get two
laughs while Charlie Chaplin is getting one.
The distillers of Kentucky have
again met to reduce still further the
whisky crop. The meeting embraced
the leading distillers of Ken-
tucky. They declared that the con-
sumption of whisky for the fiscal
year showed a shrinkage of 7 per
cent.
Production
shrinkage
has
been much greater.
