Full Text

A fracas occurred in the House on the 25th of January just before 12 o'clock.—Mr. Weller took the reporter of the Baltimore Patriot to task (a Mr. Shrievers) for the comments on his (Weller's) speech of last Friday; and told him his report was full of falsehoods; Mr. Shrievers told Mr. Weller that he was a liar; Mr. Weller immediately knocked him down; a fight took place behind the speaker's chair, a crowd of members gathered around, and at one time it was thought that some of the Whig and Democratic members would join in it. Finally they were separated. I expect this is but the beginning of a series of fights; and that we shall have a hot and quarrelsome session.
