Six Inch Snowfall Accompanied by High Wind-Many Motor Accidents-One Injured
The fiercest storm of the winter raged from 7 until 11 o'clock Saturday night, during which six or seven inches of snow fell. For a few hours it was a veritable blizzard.
Traffic was greatly impeded and there were a few accidents, none serious.
An automobile of the Providence street taxi company operated by Conrad Lapalme and Jacob Baker's car crashed on Main street. Both cars were damaged but neither of the drivers hurt.
John Nimes of New Britain had a mishap near Hampton, his car overturning. He had two ribs fractured, according to reports from the Day Kimball hospital where he was taken.
More than 150 telephone stations were put out of order and the Light & Power Company felt the storm's effects, but the former reported everything all right the next day, and the Light company suffered only a slight inconvenience.
Thomas Morrow of Farrow's street could not control his car when it started to skid on Main street and went up against a fire-plug snapping it off. Workmen from the water department were called quickly in and the main closed until repairs could be made.
There were other minor accidents but Mr. Nimes is the only person who was hurt.
