MILITARY COMPANY.—Within the past week a petition has been circulated in this place, having for its object the formation of a military company, under the militia laws of the State, and seventy-two names have been obtained to the same. The County Judge has fixed the 28th inst. as the time for the organization of the company, by the election of officers, and Hon. E. Garter has been appointed to superintend its organization. This is a move in the right direction, and we wish it abundant success. Notwithstanding the movement seems to be unnecessary in the eyes of some of our citizens, yet we can see great benefits to be derived from the formation of a company duly armed and equipped for any emergency. The character of the men engaged in the movement gives promise that no one's rights will be interfered with on any occasion, but it also gives assurance that if disloyal persons at any time offer any opposition to the laws, or attempt to disturb the peace of the community, they will be pretty sure to be suppressed, and furnished with working tools for operations on the defenses of the State.
