TO BEGIN TERM

7 Years for Killing

Walter Gamble, who pleaded guilty last week to manslaughter for the death of Capt. H. C. (Lyle) Davis, left here today in custody of Deputy United States Marshal W. H. Caswell enroute to McNeil's Island to begin a 7-year sentence in the Federal penitentiary there.

Gamble has been confined in the local Federal jail since last December, a few hours after Capt. Davis was stabbed by him at Chichagof. He was indicted for first degree murder and his plea of guilty to manslaughter was accepted by Federal Judge Justin W. Harding on the recommendation of the United States Attorney's office.
