McAllen Drainage
EDINBURG, May 23 (Spl) — The county commissioners court today voted to appropriate $1,000 in drainage district funds toward the purchase of piping to be used in eliminating a drainage slough near the McAllen disposal plant.
A large dragline recently purchased by the county is now being used to clean out the stagnant waters of the slough. Piping will be laid so as to form a permanent drain.
Commissioner Stanley Melton and Dr. F. E. Osborn, McAllen city commissioner, presented a strong appeal before the court this morning for funds with which to eliminate the stagnant slough. It is estimated that at least $2,000 more will be needed to complete the project.
