Melancholy event.- In New-Gloucester, on Monday last, Theodore Bennet, aged 17 was found hanging by a rope, lifeless; every possible effort was made to re-animate him; but without effect. He arose in the morning cheerful as usual, but being absent longer than was expected, search was made, when he was discovered suspended in the barn, and so near the floor as that his legs were bent and resting on it. He had been an apprentice to Mr. Wm. Haskell, Cabinet-maker in Portland, and was a Fifer attached to one of the Militia Companies.- Argus.
