Full Text

In answer to a paragraph in the Repository of July 10, we can say, that it is whispered that the Postmaster-General has at last resolved to obey the calls of justice and the voice of the public; but so unfortunate are the measures of our wise rulers, that, even when attempting to make reparation for the original insult on the town of Portland, a new indignity is offered. Unwilling to rely again on the "Democrats" in this town, he has, it is said, addressed himself to a certain member of Congress, who having yet some remains of the old fashioned principles of honor and honesty, it is thought can make a better nomination, than the town of Portland, who have more than once so egregiously deceived him.
