Full Text
It will require a long time for the Georgia empty-gun militia to get over it. It is alright to appear with empty guns at the state fair, but when human life and the honor of a state is at stake, the soldiers ought to either have their guns loaded or be at home. The "tin soldier" episode at Statesboro only added insult to injury, and makes the Georgia soldiers the laughing stock of the country. There never was a mob organized on the earth that would march up to the muzzles of fifty loaded guns at the top of the stairs if these guns were in the hands of men who would use them. Such an example may cause trouble, and even death to others in the future. Certain it is, the Georgia soldier must burn some powder before anybody in the future will regard them as dangerous.-Raleigh Times.
