Full Text

On Friday Night last, about nine O'clock, the Post Office here was broke open and robbed of a Sum of Money, in Silver; consisting of some milled Dollars, Pistereens, Bits, a few Spanish lump Dollars, and other small Money; there was one milled Dollar in two Pieces. A small Quantity of Paper Currency was also taken, in Crown and Half Crown Bills. Not contented with the Robbery, the Villains took a Shovel full of red hot Coals and threw on the Bed, which burnt through the Clothes, but stopped at the Feathers. If their Design of setting Fire to the Office had taken Place, not we only must have suffered, but there was a great Probability of most of the Houses on the same Side of the Street being consumed likewise. Such alarming Villainy calls loudly for the Assistance of the Publick to detect it, and we make no Doubt of their Readiness.
Purdie & Dixon.

We hereby offer a Reward of TWENTY POUNDS to any one who discovers the Person, or Persons, who committed the above Robbery; and if an Accomplice, our Promise to use our Endeavours to obtain for him the Governor's Pardon, besides the Reward.
