Full Text

Vermont completely Republicanized

We congratulate our Republican fellow citizens in general on the triumph of principle in the state of Vermont notwithstanding a large majority of the citizens of that state have been uniformly republicans, they have repeatedly re-chosen Mr. Tichenor, a federalist, for their governor ; but this year they have roused from their stupor, and have rallied round the standard of republicanism, they have convinced the world of their attachment to liberty and the national government by giving their suffrages for the honorable ISRAEL SMITH, a determined republican ; who we are happy to hear, is chosen Governor of that state, by a very respectable majority. Thus has Vermont followed the example of her old sister state Massachusetts, and placed in the chair of government a consistent republican, instead of (to say the least) an equivocal character.
