Full Text

General Santa Cruz and the Chilian Government are still at war. A correspondent of the Journal of Commerce, under date of Lima, July 10, says—

"Notwithstanding the many false accusations made against the Protector of the Chilian Government, and this only is the real cause of the war, would he consent to a cessation of all the privileges granted to the direct trade, and receive the supplies of foreign goods and produce through Valparaiso, the war would instantly cease.

The Chili squadron still continues at Callao, but is quite inoffensive; trade goes on as usual, there not having been the least appearance of a blockade, farther than the decree of the Chili Government."
