Thursday last was set apart by the Senate and House of Representatives of this Commonwealth, as a day of Humiliation and Prayer to Almighty God --that he would enlighten their minds and direct their measures to obtain relief for themselves and their fellow-citizens from existing evils & embarrassments ; and that he would be pleased to preserve the government and people of the United States from all undue partiality or attachment to any foreign power, and to inspire them with that wisdom and patriotism which shall induce them to sacrifice all party prejudices, to the permanent interest of the American nation.

His Honor, the Lieut. Governor, was invited to join in the solemnities of the day ; but unfortunately the ill health of his lady induced him to "avail himself of the proposed suspension of Legislative business."
