The Daily Comet.
Baton Rouge, March 20, 1856.
Mr. James R. Marki of the Phoenix Ledger, published at Bayou Sara, is about to commence the publication of a Democratic paper at Shreveport. The Gazette thinks that with the co-operation of Dr. Estes, they may make up for one of their latter-day gods (Ajax) who has heretofore been the idol of Red River democracy. It is to be hoped for the cause of truth and virtue that the two councilmen above mentioned will stand side by side at Shreveport, in defense of the great party of nothing but principle.
