FORT STODDERT, JULY 4—By the arrival of the sch. Edward, Capt. Ward, in 5 days from New Orleans, we have received the following highly important information:—

That seven Gun Boats were lying in the Bay of St. Lewis waiting the arrival of some more, for the purpose of convoying the sch. that was sent back from Mobile with powder and military stores on board, past that place—that they are determined to force a passage for the same without any ifs or ands.

We understand the Spaniards are determined to oppose them. Probably ere this a few shots have been exchanged.
