TEACHERS RETURN TO FOLD OF ANACONDA CENTRAL COUNCIL

Keeney Addresses Delegates

The Central Labor Council of Anaconda held its regular meeting last night in the lower A. O. H. hall. Pres. James Durkin presided. Secretary Healy read off the correspondence and the president asked the delegates to take note and report to their various unions. The meeting was well attended and the newly formed Teachers Union in Anaconda and whom are members of the Council had their delegates there in full quota. The teachers have been vacationing, attending summer schools the past summer vacation.

Anaconda's newly appointed postmaster Frank Finnegan, was in attendance and he reported several items of interest to the Council and the welfare of Anaconda. Mr. Finnegan also informed the Council Postmaster General James A. Farley would visit Anaconda Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 12, 1937, and invited the Council's executive officers and all the delegates to be a part of welcoming the Postmaster General to the city. Upon motion the president appointed a committee and named John Mogus chairman of this committee.

Professor Phil O. Keeney, librarian from the University of Montana, was in attendance and was granted the floor to inform the delegates of his defense of his position at the University. His talk was enlightening and was well received. A letter was also read informing the Council of Mr. Keeney's defense of his position at the University and also asking financial help to carry this case to the Supreme Court. Upon motion and passed the Central Labor Council made a liberal donation of $20 toward this fund. This being the second donation, the Council also donated $20 May 10, 1937, toward helping Mr. Keeney obtain fair play. The letter was also endorsed.

Business Agent Mogus made his report of interest to the delegates. Attendance is keeping up good and Pres. Durkin urged all delegates to keep this spirit up. The meeting adjourned till its next regular meeting, Oct. 25, 1937.
