| Next Saturday is the day fixed upon to commemorate the character of Andrew Jackson. Rev. Joshua L. Wilson will officiate as Chaplain, Judge Wm. Burke preach a funeral sermon, and John Brough, Esq., deliver the eulogium, on the occasion, and Major Gen. Snyder be Marshal of the day: We learn that our country friends will flock in in great numbers. Their city acquaintances will be glad to welcome them, and we are happy to say every means will be used to enable all such to participate in the ceremony. We hear that Ex-Governor Jeremiah Morrow, President Miami Railroad, and the Directors, have determined to put their Cars, free of expense, at the service of the citizens of the Miami valley. This is the right spirit, and may teach us all, that party, however bitter in its asperities, does not quench the truer impulses of the heart or stifle the nobler convictions of the soul, when an occasion demands their free play.—Cin. Gazette. |
