Mr. Editor-
I do not wish to increase the chagrin and mortification of your neighbor of the Gazette, for it seems to have reached a climax of mental insanity bordering on despair. But I must be permitted to advise him not to treat with ridicule and contempt the public meetings of the PEOPLE, and above all, not to misrepresent their numbers and their motives, when assembled to deliberate on the Presidency. The cause which requires such a course to sustain it, is not worth supporting. It cannot stand by its own merits, and would sink even in abler hands than those of the Editor of the Liberty Hall. That Editor has become somewhat notorious for misrepresenting the primary assemblies of the people, with a view to lessen their influence upon society and to promote the schemes of the caucus intriguers.
In his last paper we have a specimen of his peculiar manner of treating a popular expression of the public voice. When he stated that the meeting of the young Men of New-York in favor of General Jackson, amounted to twenty-nine at first, and to forty in all, he knew he was retailing a false insinuation from one of the most accomplished libellers of the nation, Mr. Noah of the New-York Advocate: and that the other papers of the same city gave a different account of the meeting. He should have given the name of the paper from which he derived his information, and then no one would have given any credit to the statement. But this did not suit his views. Finding it impossible to make the community believe that Mr. Clay is popular among the people, his next object appears to be to create an impression that General Jackson is in the same predicament. If the Gazette intends to disseminate correct information among the citizens of Ohio, on subjects connected with the Presidential election, a better and more honest course would be, to publish the official account of popular meetings, as given to the public under the signatures of their respective chairmen and secretaries. That's all.

P. S. Some curiosity is excited in Cincinnati, to see in what manner this busy Editor will represent the Clay meeting, held at the circus on Monday night. " Oh! What a falling off was there!!"
