Full Text
Remember the comfortable old Morris chair? It was named for William Morris, an Englishmen who, nearly a century ago, rebelled against the over-ornate and meaningless designs of his time, and started a movement for simple lines, better proportions, less decoration.
So modern were many of his squareish tables, chairs, and bookcases, that they might be mistaken today for some of our contemporary furniture. Morris deserves his fame for he was among the first to place high value on natural woods, metal ware, rough textiles, and handicraft products as opposed to machine made stuff.
