LETTER TO EDITOR
To the Editor:

Superintendent Hatton is leaving the school system next year. He has worked hard to build up the schools, probably as hard as most businessmen work to build up the business their dads left them. If the schools were operated under free enterprise he would have made a handsome profit for his efforts. He could leave the institution to his children so they could continue to gather "shekels" from the ownership of the property.

Years ago "creeping socialism" invaded the schools and destroyed the profit motive, so that Mr. Hatton had to work for the 'honor and glory'.

Strange isn't it that under such unfair conditions, men like Hatton would do such a creditable job?

Another result of the socialization of the schools is the manner in which the state regulates the teachers, the children and the parents. We have no choice as to where our children shall go to school. We have nothing to say about who shall teach them. We can't choose the books. Shocking isn't it?

Well that's what socialism has done to your child, is it any wonder Ike doesn't want to creep into the TVA?
