Row in Passaic Church Reaches Hudson Co. Chancery Court.
JERSEY CITY, Feb. 16.—Seeking an order to restrain the Rev. Arie J. Van Der Heuvel from converting the North Side Reformed Church, of Passaic, to the use of himself and a band of supporters, many of the men of the congregation were in Chancery Chambers yesterday ready to testify.
Through their attorneys, Andrew Foulds, jr., and Lewis A. Allen, leaders of the opposition, presented a petition signed by more than 100 members, in which they told of being practically expelled from the church.
George H. Dairymple, counsel for the Rev. Van Der Heuvel and his faction, submitted affidavits sworn to by his clients declaring them to be in the right and challenging the opposition to find fault with their action.
The alleged deposed elders of the church, who are seeking the injunction, are John Schilstra, Herbert Prius, Leonard Wynbeck and William S. Pontier.
