Small Fairchild Taking Off at Petersburg Collides with Troller
PETERSBURG, Alaska, May 3.—(A)—A small Fairchild plane, piloted by Barney Iverson of Wrangell and owned by the Alaska Island Airways, crashed in Wrangell Narrows after colliding with a trolling boat on its takeoff yesterday afternoon.
Iverson suffered severe head injuries. His two passengers, L. W. Sauer, Seattle, and A. D. Barker, San Francisco, suffered from shock.
The plane was a total loss.
The boat involved in the freak collision was the Nesika with the owner, Clarence Rand, and Joe Eisenstein, both of Sitka, aboard.
Neither man was injured.
Private advices received from Barker, who is representative of the Albers Milling Company, stated he was not hurt.
