COUNCIL NAMES TUBBS
MAYOR OF HARLEM AT
MONDAY NIGHT SESSION

The town council met in regular monthly meeting Monday evening at which time the two newly elected aldermen were seated and as the vote for mayor resulted in a tie at the annual town election, April 5, the council proceeded to pick a mayor from the two tying candidates, John A. Mariow and Chas. C. Tubbs. Mr. Tubbs was the choice of the council, the deciding vote having been cast by Mayor McMichael. The four members of the council, by voting two and two kept the election a tie until broken by the retiring mayor.

The bonds for the purchase of the distributing system of the local light company were turned over to the purchaser, B. P. Ekegren, on May 1 and that matter being closed, the town's power is assured of a continued 24 hour service of electricity from the Montana Power company, all of the details having been completed in this regard.

The matter of persons of high school age and younger climbing the water tank was brought to the attention of the council and it was not definitely decided, but it was the opinion of most of the members that it would be advisable to erect a fence around the tank using pickets similar to those placed around the transformers of the power company. The climbing of this tank by children, especially the younger ones, is a dangerous practice, as a fall would mean broken limbs at least. The town marshal was instructed to arrest any one found climbing or trespassing on the property of the water tank grounds.

No appointments were made Monday night by the new administration so the city personnel other than the mayor and council remains the same until the next meeting, the first Monday in June, at which time appointments will be made by the mayor. The personnel of the council at this time is Chas. C. Tubbs, mayor; R. J. Niewochner and J. W. Epler, aldermen from the first ward; Jack Scheflow and Chas. Sutton, aldermen from the second ward.
